The clients for this waterfront home had a dream based on an image they had seen: a glass wall gracefully weaving in and out of a series of large posts. We were intrigued by this vision and we went to work with our architectural design team. The result was a very pleasing play on materials with solid fir timbers and commercial glazing intertwined.

 

We also incorporated an outdoor kitchen on grade with the kitchen dining area, then scribed a concrete retaining wall to the existing rock face and lowered the terrace in front of the great room and dining room so the lounging furniture would not impair their ocean views.

 

The client also has a passion for wine. For this home our vision was to incorporate a wine cellar recessed into the lower level that featured natural stone walls. We carefully and strategically broke this recess into the solid granite to create a very unique wine cave reminiscent of those found in Europe.
